First I listen
Before I even pick up the camera I ask you the important questions. Do you have a vision for your photos? Do you have some place special you'd like to take your photos? Do you have a favorite pose or hate a certain angle of yourself?
The more I know about you the more I know I'll deliver photos you'll love.
Prompts over Poses
While I do like starting a session with a few tried and true poses smiling at the camera, most of my work is prompts.
I'll ask you to walk or dance or hug each other. I'll ask you to look at each other, not at the camera. In fact I hope you forget the camera is there.
These prompts create a candid, cinematic, authentic look and feel to your photos.
Plus most couple tend to like these more because it feels like a date night rather than a photoshoot.
I notice the unplanned
I am always looking for those in-between moments. I call this the keep the camera rolling technic. In film making often the best authentic performance from an actor comes right after the director yells "cut!" That's when they are no longer performing for the camera.
That's what I'm trying to capture. You in an authentic feeling, not just smiling for the camera, a moment you reveal how much you truly love your person.
I read the room
I am a vibe reader. If you feel uncomfortable that will show in the photos. I always try to adjust to meet you where you are so you can feel your best so you can get the best photos.
I give you your main character moment
Above all else this is your love story. The photos should reflect that. I aim to give each couple something that they can love and cherish forever. Something they can show their kids years later and be excited to show everyone they know now.
